Children's Day on the Farm
Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum - 6/8/2009
|
With the sun shining over Jefferson Patterson Park on June 7, children gathered to enjoy the 24th Annual Children's Day on the Farm. The event was free and offered a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations to celebrate Southern Maryland's rich rural history. Some of the hands-on activities included butter-churning, corn shelling, cow milking and weaving. For the animal lovers there were pony rides and a small petting zoo that included chicks, goats, bunnies and horses. Antique tractors, fire trucks, cars, trucks and farm machinery were on display throughout the day. In the afternoon an antique tractor parade was held for the crowd to see. Children rode pedal-powered tractors for the tractor pull. For a small fee kids enjoyed the little barrel train rides. Live music could also be heard ongoing throughout the day. It was a great family event with activities for the kids and adults alike.
