At approximately 6:20 a.m. on Saturday June 6, fire and rescue units from Dunkirk and Huntingtown responded to the scene of a single car accident at State Route 4 and Skinners Turn Road in Owings. Upon arrival, first responders found a single car in a field a good deal from the roadway. First responders discovered a single male patient trapped in the vehicle and had to extract him before having him transported by Maryland State Police helicopter Medevac to Prince Georges Hospital. Calvert accident investigators are continuing to investigate the accident in which it is estimate that the vehicle went airborne once and perhaps as many as two times, striking a tree some 30 feet in the air. No word on the condition of the patient at this time. When authorities issue an official statement, that information will be provided as an update to this story.
