BB Bandit Busted, Released to Parent

Between the hours of 10 p.m., on April 28, and 6 a.m., on April 29, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office received numerous complaints (15 so far) of destruction of property.
The destruction of properties occurred at various locations throughout Lexington Park. Vehicle windows were shot and destroyed with the use of a BB gun. Investigation identified a witness who gave a description of a suspect vehicle, two door, dark, mid 1990 Cadillac Elderado. Dfc. A. Whipkey observed the suspect vehicle in the area.
The driver of the vehicle committed a traffic violation and was stopped. As Dfc. Whipkey was speaking with the driver, 17-year-old, male from Lexington Park, he observed BB’s lying throughout the vehicle. Dfc. Whipkey asked the driver to step from the vehicle. As the driver was stepping from the vehicle Dfc. Whipkey observed a BB gun, a CO2 box and a box of Daisy BB’s in the vehicle.
The juvenile was arrested and charged with five counts of destruction of property and one count of malicious destruction of property scheme valued over $500. The juvenile was released to his mother.
The investigation is continuing and more charges may be pending.
