Child Abuse Charges for Woman Who Beat 10-Year-Old

On April 18, at 5:14 p.m., Deputy M. Licausi responded to a residence in Great Mills, for a domestic disturbance. 

While investigating the domestic disturbance, Deputy Licausi determined a 10-year-old victim had been physically abused by the suspect after observing several scratches and a lacerated lip on the child. 

Contact was made with the suspect, Elizabeth D. Blackwell, 42 of Great Mills, who was extremely intoxicated.  Blackwell was placed under arrest, charged with second-degree child abuse, second-degree assault and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. 

The case was forwarded to Child Protective Services for further follow up investigation.

I am with you! How can anyone beat a child to the point where they have scratches and a cut on their lip! That is ridiculous!!!! I have three children and would never ever beat them! That is why some children are the way they are...they are beaten, abused and neglected. Put the children somewhere where they will be loved and cared for!

Awww, someones being a little cry baby. The only kids I would beat would be your parents kids. They (your parents)obviously are related or experimented with smoking Drain-O while conceiving your worthless carcass. If your dad had any compassion, he would have put it in her eye. He should get a beaten too, now that I think about it.

You know Jersey-Boy you really should be called JERK-BOY. You take any news headline and turn it into a "lets bash someone" session. This news topic was about a woman who beat a 10 year old. The real topic here is how wrong it is to abuse a child or anyone really.
Are you a parent? Do you see how wrong it is to abuse a child?
All you seem to care about is bashing mr. nice guy.

Ok you really need to grow up, Im guessing that you are far from being an adult if you say things like "supreme tongue lashings".
Stick with the facts, a 10 year old child was abused this weekend by a woman that was drunk.
All of us on here are concerned for this child!
Grow up and have some compassion for this child.

Was that really the best insult you could throw at us? I think the kids on my lax team could have done better than that and they are a 1/4 of your age and weight. Shut your mouth when you speak to me unless I give you permission. Kapeesh? Wow, that was even gayer than I thought..kapeesh lol. Did your turnpike trash parents teach you to talk like that? Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs that anyone will have. I understand getting so mad at your child (maybe for breaking a neighbor's window for example) that you just want to beat their tail. But there is a difference between spanking a child and beating a child. When one of my children does something that warrants a spanking I do not do it just because I'm angry. There are rules in my house. And afterwards you have to let them know exactly why they were punished and that even though your upset that you still love them.

And most of all you should never, never try to punish a child when you've had anything to drink. I noticed that the story gave the name of the suspect. Normally they do not do that if they are related to the victim. It's upsetting to think that this women thought it was OK to strike this child in the face enough to cut her lip. I know that some kids can be disrespectful but this child was only 10 years old.

There is a BIG difference between spanking and beating your child. If my child gets mouthy with me then a pop in the mouth is warrented or if they act out in a way they know they shouldnt then a pop on the butt is warrented but to beat a child and leave marks is beyond conceivable. Children need to be corrected and disiplined, this is one of the ways they learn right from wrong, but it needs to be done in a resonable manner.

Apparently this woman has alcohol issues. Nothing wrong with a spank on the butt, but this is beating. Go to AA.

Read my article under the Charlotte Hall man who abused the 8year old under his care...

How do you continue to allow Jersey Boy and Mr. Nice Guy...and any others like them...to continue to make comments as they do? Kick them off the site. They add nothing but disgusting comments, completely off the subject and fighting back and forth with one another.
