Come one come all…  For the first time ever on Saturday, April 11, The Blue Crabs held tryouts open to the public. About fifty players arrived for Tryouts. The players ranged in age from 19-35. Most of them have college experience or previous professional experience.

A group of four ball players from Elizabeth City State University drove all the way from North Carolina in hopes of joining The Blue Crab’s team. Meshaw Taylor is 23, plays second base and is from Charlotte, NC. He has played since he was five years old.

Brandin Cottou is 24 and plays in the outfield.  He has been playing since he was eight. Cottou says, “I came up for the love of the game and I just love to play ball. It’s always been a dream of mine.”

Joel Brown is 20. He started playing a little later in life at age 14.

Anthony Archie is 23. He’s played ball since he was four. He plays first base and is also a designated hitter. He will graduate from ECSU this summer and said, “I came up because I just love to play. I’ve been playing since I was little.” Archie is originally from Glenn Burnie.
