Solid Waste Committee to Hold Special Meeting

The St. Mary’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation announces that the Solid Waste Advisory Committee will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, April 1.

The Committee will be touring a transfer station owned and operated by Calvert Trash Systems, Inc. The purpose of the tour is to gather information and see first hand the processing of construction & demolition debris recycling of same; specifically the feasibility of processing waste materials in order to increase the amount of recycling materials as this is directly related to the proposed St. Mary's County Transfer Station as per the MDE permit issued in September 2008.

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee and staff will be leaving the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) at 12 p.m., touring the facility at 1 p.m. and returning to DPW&T at approximately 4 p.m.
