St. Mary's County Department of Aging Senior Information and Activities for the week of March 19: Vivian Ripple Center Open House
On Saturday, April 28, 2009, from 1 – 5 p.m., the St. Mary’s County Department of Aging will host an Open House at the Vivian Ripple Adult Day Services Center located at 24400 Mervell Dean Rd., Hollywood, MD. This event is open to the community and will include: tours of the facility, information, available services, resources, photo display, door prizes and a Spaghetti Luncheon. Garvey Senior Activity Center
21905 Chancellors Run Road, Great Mills (301) 475-4200 ext. 1050 The Garvey Senior Activity Center will host a Bunco Pizza Party on Tuesday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. Pizza will be served for those playing the game at noon. Paint on Glassgroup will meet at the Garvey Senior Activity Center on Wednesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. Enhance glass items that you bring from home. The Garvey Senior Activity Center’s staff will serve a staff prepared meal on Thursday, March 26 at 12:30 p.m. The menu is mandarin orange and arugula salad, chicken Creole, rice, green beans, carrots, sherbet, coffee, tea or milk. 21905 Chancellors Run Road, Great Mills (301) 737-5670 ext. 1652) A Pastel class to be taught by Ethel Carlow at Loffler Senior Activity Center for six consecutive Tuesdays from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, March 24. Cost for the six sessions will be $18. Beginners and intermediate levels are welcome. A minimum of 5 students will be needed for this class to take place. Washington Nationals Baseball Game Trip - No need to fight traffic- enjoy a comfortable bus trip to D.C. with your friends to see the Nats play the Houston Astros on Tuesday, May 5! Game time is 12:35 but the party begins on the bus in St. Mary’s County! Bus departs Loffler at 9 a.m.; Garvey at 9:30 a.m. and Northern at 10 a.m. Cost of $55 per person includes transportation, game and a snack on the bus. Date change for March! Instead of meeting on Friday, March 20, this month PROJECT LINUS will meet on Friday, March 26. It will still meet at 10 a.m. at Loffler Senior Activity Center. For questions please call 301-737-5670 ext. 5670.
Northern Senior Activity Center

The Northern Senior Activity Center is looking for contributions for the Yard sale on April 18 at 6:30 a.m. Donations (except for clothes), in good condition, can be dropped off on Friday, April 17, at the Center. The Center's Council will be holding the event (rain/shine) at the Activity Center in Charlotte Hall and will also have some crafters and vendors in attendance. On Wednesday, March 25 at noon, a pizza party lunch will be served at the Northern Senior Activity Center, followed by bunco games with prizes for the top winners. Call 301.475.4002, ext. 1001 by noon on Tuesday, March 24 to sign up for lunch.
On Thursday, March 26 at 2 p.m., Kate Ingersoll, Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at St. Mary’s College of Maryland will show a PowerPoint presentation of her travels to West Africa. Join us at the Northern Senior Activity Center for this intriguing session where artifacts will be on display and you can sample a tasty treat of local cuisine.
