|
The Calvert County Office on Aging, in partnership with Calvert Memorial Hospital, is presenting the First Annual Healthy Aging Festival Friday, March 20, at Calvert Pines Senior Center from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The Healthy Aging Festival will offer free and reduced-cost health screenings and will include hands-on activities, demonstrations and information on holistic health. Free services include ask-the-nurse and ask-the-pharmacist sessions, blood pressure screenings, depression screenings, cooking demonstrations, exercise classes, hand massages and reflexology sessions. Blood screenings will be available for a small fee. Some of the screenings require an appointment and/or a 10-hour fast; participants are encouraged to call ahead for information. The festival will feature music therapy, a DJ spinning tunes and lots of great food. Participants can also join in creative arts sessions or try virtual fitness with the Nintendo Wii game. The festival is open to anyone age 18 and older. Lunch and dinner will be available for purchase. The Calvert Pines Senior Center is located at 450 West Dares Beach Rd. in Prince Frederick. For a schedule of screenings and events, contact the Office on Aging at (410) 535-4606 or (301) 855-1170, or visit http://www.co.cal.md.us/residents/health/aging/default.asp.
