Dream Big: Blue Crabs to Hold Tryout April 11

Calling all ballplayers. Grab your bat, glove and gather your talent. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs will hold an open tryout for the 2009 roster on Saturday, April 11, beginning at 9 a.m. sharp. During the workout the club will evaluate talent at any position. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. at Regency Furniture Stadium, and last until 9 a.m. The cost of attending the tryout is $45.00, and the fee should be paid in advance by check, along with a filled out tryout form. The form can be downloaded by visiting the Blue Crabs official website at www.SOMDBlueCrabs.com, and clicking on the tryout info under “Top Stories” on the homepage. Make checks payable to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Refer to the form for the Blue Crabs mailing address, and other contact info for more information. Athletes will fill out all the remaining necessary paperwork that morning.

The Blue Crabs will provide (wood) bats, balls and helmets for the tryout. All athletes must be at least 18 years of age to tryout. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs will open their second season of Atlantic League baseball at home on Thursday, April 23 at 7:05 p.m., against the Liberty Division rival Long Island Ducks. The Blue Crabs will play 70 home games this season at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. A full promotional schedule featuring some of the best giveaways and most unique events in minor league baseball will be announced in the coming days.
