Emergency Shelters In All 3 Counties Have Opened

Emergency Shelter have been set up in all three counties as thousands of residents remain without heat and electricity after a major winter storm hit Southern Maryland leaving up to a foot of snow and knocked out power lines.

Locations:
St. Mary's:
Great Mills High School located at 21130 Great Mills Road in Great Mills

Charles:
Milton M. Somers Middle Schol located at 300 Willow Lane in La Plata

Calvert:
Southern Middle School located at 9615 HG Trueman Road in Lusby
- Calvert Middle School located at 435 Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick

If you plan on seeking shelter at the schools, please remember to bring the following:

- Food in general and especially for special diets as it may not be available at the shelter.
- Infant food and diapers.
- Medical equipment and supplies such as wheelchairs.
- Prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
- Sleeping bags, blankets and pillows as bedding is not provided. Cots are to be provided by the American Red Cross.
- Personal hygiene items and a change of clothes.
-  Quiet entertainment items.
- No pet are allowed. Service animals are welcome.
