County Commissioners Continue Their Food Fight

CHARLES COUNTY - 2/20/2009

Printer friendly

Due to the overwhelming support that was shown by the community during this past weekend's S-O-S (Sharing of Staples) food drive, the Charles County Commissioners are joining with two additional local stores in an effort to stamp out hunger in Charles County.

This Saturday, Feb. 21, the Commissioners are joining with Safeway in La Plata, 40 Shining Willow Way, to collect canned foods and non-perishable items to help replenish the shelves at The Southern Maryland Food Bank. On Sunday (February 22), the collection moves to the Giant Food Market in La Plata, at the Rosewick Shopping Center. The hours for both days are noon-3 p.m.

If you'd like to participate in S-O-S (Sharing of Staples), drop by either store, or contact the County's Public Information and Media Relations Office at (301) 645-0550.
