Each summer, St. Mary’s Hospital invites local high school and college students to gain hands-on experience in a busy health care environment. This is a paid eight-week internship experience. Interested students will need to apply and are selected based on their grades, essays and letters of recommendation. High school students, juniors who will be seniors in the fall and seniors, can pick up application packets from the Human Resources Department at the hospital or their high school counselors. Volunteer Coordinator Mary B. Cheseldine will also distribute application packets to the hospital’s junior volunteers. Applications are due by Feb. 27 for returning high school applications. Human Resources staff will pick up applications from high school counselors.
College students can apply online via the hospital’s careers page beginning March 2. The deadline for college students’ applications is March 16.
Students will be notified of the selection decision via letter, which will be sent by April 3. For more information about the hospital’s internship program, please contact Marcia Chase in Human Resources at (301) 475-7101.
