Suspects with Guns, Drugs Caught After Fleeing Assault

On Feb. 7 at 9 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Tanglewood Drive in Waldorf for the report of an assault in which the suspects were armed with a gun.

The victim provided officers with a description of the suspect’s car and officers responding to the call observed the vehicle fleeing the area. The vehicle was stopped and the front seat passenger,  Jovaughn Brown, 22 of Waldorf, fled. He was quickly apprehended. The driver of the car, Rowemell Mclean, 27, of Landover, was arrested after officers found a 12-gauge shotgun on the front seat of the car. Mclean also had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his coat.

Both men were charged with possession of a concealed weapon. Mclean was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The victim of the assault fled prior to police arrival and officers were unable to verify the assault.

Officer T. Yates made the arrest.
