Looking to impress your sweetie with the perfect date on Valentine’s Day?  Annmarie Garden will stay open until 9 p.m. for a special Valentine Date Night.  Visit the Garden - before or after dinner - for live jazz, wine tasting, chocolate, discounts on jewelry in the gift shop, and beautiful art exhibits.  Escort your sweetheart on a tour of the Arts Building while nibbling on chocolate and sipping a glass of wine courtesy of the Solomons Island Winery.  Live jazz by John Shaw will drift throughout the building.  And, as everyone knows, an art exhibit always provokes great conversation – helping to fill in awkward silences if this is a first date or providing new topics for a more seasoned romance.  Whatever the age of your romance, Annmarie Garden will add passion to your evening.

Current exhibits at Annmarie Garden include Celebrations Art Glass Exhibit and Sailor Made: the art of the woolie.  Celebrations features works in glass by the National Capital Art Glass Guild. This glorious explosion of color, design, and texture showcases the varied techniques that glass artists use to build artwork.  Whether it is hand-blown, fused, or soldered into stained glass panels, this show highlights the versatility of the medium.  Sailor Made:  the art of the woolie is a unique collection of more than fifty hand-sewn ship portraits created by British sailors in the 19th century.  Be sure to look for “Sailor’s Return,” a particularly romantic scene of a sailor returning to his sweetheart after months at sea.

Bring your Valentine, sample the treats, browse the art, and take advantage of the jewelry sale.  Valentine Date Night is the perfect stop before or after a romantic dinner at a Solomon’s Island restaurant.  Valentine Date Night will be held Feb.14 from 6 to 9 p.m.  Cost is $3 per person.  Annmarie Garden Sculpture Park & Arts Center is a thirty-acre public sculpture park and arts center located on Dowell Road in Solomons, Maryland, just off Route 2/4.  To learn more about Annmarie Garden, visit
