St. Mary's Hospital to Present Veterans Program

On Thursday, Jan. 29, SMH’s The Professional Education Committee Presents will present Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome: Assisting Our Veterans and Their Families. The Dinner and presentation will begin at 6 p.m. and run through 7:30 p.m. in the SMH Atrium. Speaking before those in attendance will be Mary Neal Vieten, Ph.D. of Operational & Professional Psychology Solutions. The objective of Vieten’s presentation is for participants to be able to identify symptoms of PTSS, be able to Analyze differential diagnosis, treatment and outcomes of PTSS and be familiar with military resources in Southern Maryland. Physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants credentialed practicing in southern Maryland and interested employees of St. Mary's Hospital are invited to attend. To register, SMH Medical Staff and outside practitioners, are asked to call the Medical Staff Office at (301) 475-6088. Employees of St. Mary's Hospital can self-register in PRIMEnet. The presentation will earn participants one Continuing Education Credit – CME Credit: One (1.0) AMA PRA Category I CME St. Mary’s Hospital is accredited by the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. St. Mary’s Hospital has designated this education activity for a maximum of one hour in Category I credit toward the AMA Physicians’ Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity. Dr. Vieten completed her undergraduate studies at California Lutheran University. She received her Master’s in Education at Boston University and her PhD in Counseling Psychology at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. At the Naval Health Clinic, Patuxent River, MD, she headed the Crisis Response Team, was Department Leader for Specialty Clinics and served on the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff. |
