Lend a Hand, Volunteers Needed Jan. 26 thru Feb. 3

Cedar Lane Apartments in Leonardtown is asking for volunteers to help its elderly residents when the elevator is non-operational from Monday, Jan. 26 to Tuesday, Feb. 3, at a minimum. Volunteers are needed to help residents who can’t walk up and down stairs with such tasks as meal delivery and errands. Volunteers will serve as stairwell monitors from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Assistance running activities during the day and possibly delivering meals at dinner time (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) is also needed. Volunteer groups are already scheduled on Monday, Jan. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m; and Sunday, Feb. 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (Groups from St. Mary’s Ryken and Great Mills High School will be helping out, but dates and times are not yet scheduled.)
