Fatal Hit-and-Run

Maryland State Police in La Plata are investigating a fatal hit and run accident in Waldorf. On Jan. 14, at 2:35 a.m., Patricia Yvette Mason, 48 of Accokeek, was walking eastbound on MD Route 228 east of Chestnut Drive on the right shoulder, when the operator of a an unknown vehicle was traveling in the same location, for an unknown reason struck the pedestrian. After striking Mason, the unknown vehicle fled the scene of the collision. Mason was transported to Civista Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Mason later succumb to the injuries she sustained from the collision and was subsequently pronounced deceased. Anyone with information about this incident is being asked to contact TFC S. freefaller 1/15/2009 at 10:12 PM what a terrible loss Nothing good ever happens after midnight. Does anyone know what she was doing walking on the side of the road at 2:35 am. Did her car beak down? Just curious. My prayers go out to her family....... Reply to This Comment

LDecker85 1/16/2009 at 9:06 AM Reply to freefaller: Who knows.. This is the only time I've heard of this was from TBN.. Many reasons could be behind the reason why she was walking on the side of the road at that time.. It's just sad to read about things like this happening.. For all we know, the guy/girl who hit her was probably drunk. It's sad that they probably wont find the person who did this for awhile. Because there probably wasnt any witnesses at this time.. I just hope they find this person before they do it again.
