On Jan. 7 at 2:49 p.m. officers responded to Westlake High School located at 3300 Middletown Road in Waldorf, for the report of an armed subject.

Investigation revealed three subjects entered the school’s gymnasium looking for an acquaintance who was participating in after school activities; most other students were already gone for early dismissal. As the subjects looked for their friend, a student noticed one of the subjects had what appeared to be a gun tucked in his waistband. The student alerted a school official who also observed the gun. At that point, the subjects walked out of the school and entered a car.

The school official placed the school on lockdown, notified police and provided a vehicle description. Officers quickly arrived, located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop. A pellet gun was recovered underneath the front passenger seat of the car.

The passenger, a 16-year-old Upper Marlboro resident, was arrested and charged with carrying a dangerous weapon on school property, carrying a concealed weapon and trespassing.

The driver of the car, Christopher Michael Scott, 19 of Upper Marlboro, was arrested and charged with possession of drugs after officers found marijuana on his person. The third occupant of the car, a 15-year-old Upper Marlboro resident, was not arrested.

Detective B. Buchanan is investigating.
