Looking for the perfect gift this holiday season? Fear not those long lines, crowded parking lots and disgruntled sales people. Shop local and experience what gift giving is all about. The Calvert Marine Museum Store has more that you could possibly ask for.

The Calvert Marine Museum Store is located to the left of the lobby in the main exhibition building of the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons.

Unique gifts with nautical themes and great quality are the store’s specialty. Gifts for every member of the family can be found in the whimsical shop.

For children, purchase a boat making kit, sharks teeth, stuffed maritime animals and puppets, books written by Priscilla Cummings, a Maryland author and the most popular toy of the season, Exo Bones.

For the woman in your life, pick up some sea-glass made jewelry, all handcrafted by local artists, perhaps a designer lamp or some framed Chesapeake artwork. Especially for men, is the Spyce cologne imported straight from the Eastern Shore or the nautical ties, hats for all seasons and fleece jackets with the Marine Museum logo on them!

Other great gifts for that special someone include, sealife pillow, shot glasses, Maryland style soups, nuts,

seafood dips, coasters, glass blown plates, seahorse cookie cutters. The wood corkscrews and salt and pepper shakers are made of yellow pine by Jim Wilson, a local artist, during the renovation of the Cove and Drum Point Lighthouse keeper’s residence.

For more information about the Calvert Marine Museum Store, call (410) 326-2750.

The museum store is open daily from 10:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with extended hours during the Solomons Christmas Walk Dec. 5 - Dec. 7. Hurry in and pick-up that perfect gift!
