A tip for down south:

Never trust a green light around Pax River Gate # 1, especially if you are northbound during the morning rush.

The red-light runners get an extra ten seconds of your green light.

Actually, I always check to make sure traffic is stopped before I proceed on a green light. I had a high school friend killed when she pulled out in front of a tractor trailer who could not stop in time for the red light (it was a new light too). That just kind of stuck with me all these years. My favorite is when the guy behind you honks at you because you stopped for the red light.
