On Nov. 25, at approximately 12:43 a.m., Deputy A. Perkins responded to Cut Rate Tobacco and Liquors in Great Mills, for the report of a Burglary in progress.

As Deputy Perkins arrived she observed Francis Matthew Scriber, 47 of no fixed address, walking away from the scene.  Scriber was wearing clothing that matched the suspect description given by a witness.  Scriber also had white paint chips on his shirt which appeared to be fresh.  Scriber was detained.

Further investigation revealed the white back door of the business was broken.  Entry was made into the business.  Newport cigarettes and cash were taken from the business.  A search of Scriber revealed ten packs of Newport cigarettes, cash and a glass smoking device with controlled dangerous substance residue on his person.

Francis Scriber was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, destruction of property, theft, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine) and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
