Charles Exemplary Students Recognized

The Board of Education honored four Charles County Public Schools students at its monthly meeting held on Nov. 18, for their accomplishments in academic achievement, career readiness and personal responsibility, which are the focus areas of the school system’s master plan. Students honored were Krista Carroll, fifth-grade student, Malcolm Elementary School; Megan Czysz, fifth-grade student, Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary School; Walter Burlack, fifth-grade student, Dr. James Craik Elementary School; and Scott Frazier, eighth-grade student, Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. Carroll was honored in the area of academic achievement. She is consistently on the school honor roll, is recognized by her teachers as a role model and displays leadership skills in school activities. She is a member of the math team and the Malcolm student council. Carroll also participates in the Mathematics, Engineering, Science and Achievement team. Czysz was honored in the area of academic achievement. She is consistently on the school honor roll and is a top performer in the Higdon math team competition each year. She is a member of the school safety patrol and follows the “I Care” rules as part of the school’s Positive Behaviorial Interventions and Supports program. Burlack was honored in the area of personal responsibility. He is an honor-roll student, and he enjoys taking on additional responsibilities and helping students new to the school. He is a member of the math team and participates in MESA and the elementary computer bowl. Frazier was honored in the area of career readiness. He is an honor-roll student, and consistently demonstrates school citizenship. He participates in extracurricular activities at the school and in the community. Frazier is also considered a role model for exhibiting the character traits of positive behavior at Stoddert: respect, readiness and responsibility. The Board honors several students each month for their accomplishments. |
