Hospice of St. Mary’s is proud to present its first ever, Festival of Trees. The Festival of Trees is being hosted at the J. T. Daugherty Center in Lexington Park. The gala event will feature 14 uniquely decorated Christmas trees and wreaths with the theme of Home For The Holidays. On Friday, Nov. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. tree decorators will go to work and create the 14 beautiful trees. Then, on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. the Festival of Trees will begin and continues until 5 p.m. Visitors will be supporting Hospice of St. Mary’s with a modest $5 donation to enter the event. During Saturday’s festival there will be a silent auction for several of the trees on display. Santa will be available for children to tell their secret wishes to from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. There will be a variety of vendors for some special holiday shopping. At 3 p.m., a special ceremony, the eleventh annual Tree of Lights, will be held. This extraordinary tree, decorated with personalized memorial ornaments, is a tribute to cherished family and friends. At the Tree of Lights ceremony there will be remarks, gospel singers and clergy. After the stirring ceremony, there will be some scrumptious refreshments. Proceeds from the event will benefit Hospice of St. Mary’s. The donations enable Hospice of St. Mary’s to provide care and comfort to terminally ill persons and their families and bereavement support to those families and the community. Those wishing to support the efforts of the Hospice, but are unable to attend may make a contribution by contacting Kathryn Fanzen at the Hospice offices at (301) 475-2023.
