On Friday, Nov. 28, after exhausting yourself from all the Black Friday shopping and having the tryptophan finally wear off from all the turkey, come enjoy the annual Christmas on the Square in Leonardtown.

At the much anticipated event held from 5 to 9 p.m., there will be something sure to delight everyone. The town

is going all out with the best “Lighting” ever! There will be holiday music and entertainment all around the square, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in grand style, there will be costumed characters, pony rides, horse-drawn carriage rides and more.

While there, be sure to enjoy an oyster scald and visit the gingerbread house. For the more adventurous, there are sleigh, train, hay and fire truck rides as well. At 7 p.m. the town officially Lights up the Square and welcomes the holiday season into full swing.

The event annually hosts thousands and parking will be at a premium. Although the public parking lots will be open and marked along with some grassy areas, also marked, the town recommends that visitors park at the College of Southern Maryland and to take advantage of the frequent STS shuttles into and out of the town square area.
