Terry Clarke and Pat Donovan, owners of Tiki Bar in Solomons, made a generous donation on Nov. 7, towards two organizations in our community, the Calvert County Fraternal Order of Police and the Humane Society of Calvert County.

Two separate fundraisers were held over the last few months for the individual organizations. On Sept. 20, the Tiki Bar threw a party called, "Raid on the Tiki." It was an afternoon of fun, helping to raise money for the Calvert County Fraternal Order of Police. Then on Oct. 18, Tiki's second Halloween costume party was thrown to benefit the Humane Society.

Cpl. Thomas Phelps, President of the Calvert FOP accepted a check for $33,500. Cpl. Phelps said,"The Tiki Bar and FOP came together to plan the event and in the end, Tiki came through with a generous donation that will go towards the FOP's Benevolence Fund."

Kristy Anderson, Fundraising Chairperson for the Humane Society, with Maxi, the Beagle, graciously accepted a check of $4,000. The money donated to the Humane Society will go towards renovations at the kennel.

Joe Kurley, a manager at the Tiki bar, was excited to be able to help out both organizations and looks forward to next season at the Tiki Bar.
