On Nov. 4, Deputy M. Boyer responded to Holland Manner Drive in Ridge, for a report of a domestic assault in progress.

The investigation revealed the victim had been dropped off at her apartment.  A witness heard the victim scream and entered the exterior door of the apartment building.  The witness observed the victim laying at the top of the stair case and John Thomas Johnson, 45 of Ridge, holding the victim down, punching her in the face with his fist.

The witness ran out to retrieve his cell phone to call for help.  When the witness returned to the apartment building, the victim and Johnson were still involved in a physical altercation.

The victim was able to free herself and run out of the apartment building into the woods.

John Thomas Johnson was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.
