The TRIAD Councils of Charles County and St. Mary’s County are co–hosting a day long conference in which members of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies will be on hand to distribute information aimed at keeping seniors safe.

The conference will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at North Point High School, 2500 Davis Road in Waldorf.

TRIAD is a term describing a partnership between senior organizations and law enforcement agencies. The program is designed to educate and inform senior citizens about senior specific issues.

Conference participants receive advice about such matters as: reporting and identifying elderly abuse, financial abuse, living wills, and personal safety tips. Guest speakers Ellen Young, author of “Mom’s OK, She Just Forgets” and Evelyn Mclay, author of “Between Two Worlds”, will share special presentations with attendees.

The public is invited to attend; however, pre-registration is required. A light breakfast will be served, followed by a soup and sandwich lunch and beverages. The cost of the seminar is $30.

To register, call Connie Gray, Community Organizer for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at (301) 609-3080.
