AnySoldier, Inc., a non-profit charity, is holding a house raffle for the support and benefit of U.S. Troops. Homeowners Steven and Natalie Skyrm are offering their home in this unique raffle. All the net proceeds are earmarked for Any Soldier Inc. Raffle tickets are $100 each and are being sold online at www.anysoldierhouseraffle.com. The beautiful Prince Frederick home is valued at $835,000.
The drawing will be held at the property on Veteran’s Day – Tuesday, Nov. 11 in honor of troops. The second through fifth place raffle winners will receive cash prizes. Raffle tickets may be purchased on the web site where the rules are displayed. AnySoldier currently helps over 100,000 service members in all four branches of the military, both active duty and reservists, with over 3,500 military contacts. The organization provides support for American troops in dangerous deployments by facilitating a connection between the service men and women in harm’s and the U.S. public. "For soldiers in the field in Afghanistan where they are without any comforts, to receive a package from someone with soap and wet wipes is great," said Maj. Gary Bourland, USMC. Bourland did three tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and knows about what soldiers in the field need first hand. "When you're up in the mountains of Afghanistan and not even helicopters can get to you because you're so high, receiving a package with the basics is a Godsend." Bourland stated that as an officer in charge of 21 year-old soldiers, some without families who never receive any mail, AnySoldier's efforts bring him great comfort. News from home, letters, and supplies from strangers who have heard about AnySoldier and sent materials is a great moral boost to troops. AnySoldier provides information on how anyone can send letters, care packages and other demonstrations of support. It also supports a network of soldiers who are responsible for the delivery of donated items and letters.
