LUGM also presented proposed text amendments on wineries in St. Mary's County. Director Derick Berlage said he had worked with DECD Director Bob Schaller and the input of people in the delicate business of winemaking to create zoning ordinances that allow for wineries in over 80 percent of the count

Commissioners Report - Oct. 6

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, the St. Mary's Board of County Commissioners received an update concerning state cuts to SMC's Human Services Department. Director Bennett Connelly stated his department lost about $1.8 million and is prepared for additional cuts.

Commissioners Talk Budget at State of the County Luncheon

The recently announced and anticipated budget cuts were the hot topic. BOCC President Jack Russell said it was time to 'tighten up the belt' and referred to the cuts as a pain that would get spread around.

Commissioners Report- September 15

The St. Mary's County Commissioners proclaimed Sept. 20-26 National Resource Conservation and Development Week, honoring the hard work of the local RCD. Commissioner Jarboe, a prior RCD chairman, said, "If it's good for the environment or for the community, it's a resource to help get 'er done."
