The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society presents our 3rd annual Renaissance Christmas concert! Performing in period dress, we will take you back to the time of great feasts in great halls with the joy and merriment of the Christmas Season. With our Procession of the Court into the Banquet Hall with Masters in This Hall you will transported to the world of Elizabethan England. There will also be some well-known Christmas carols and other holiday songs to put you in the Spirit of the Season.

This year’s performance will feature Benjamin Britten’s ‘Ceremony of Carols’. This beautiful choral piece was inspired by medieval poetry and also incorporates elements of Gregorian chant. The Ceremony of Carols will be accompanied by harpist, Jacqueline Pollauf. Ms. Pollauf holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and is on the faculty of Baltimore School for the Arts and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She has received awards from the Maryland State Arts Council and Chamber Music America. She recently was praised for playing with a “transcendent ability” (The Sybaritic Singer) after premiering a new work for harp and voice at Carnegie Hall in New York City. There will be three performances of the Renaissance Christmas concert: The first performance on Thursday, December 6th will be a benefit concert for the Peace Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
