The Ruddy Duck Brewery and Grill was conceived by co-owner Carlos Yanez. The 'ruddy duck' is a species native to both South and North America and has a migratory path that takes it to and from each. So goes the duck, goes founder Carlos Yanez. A native of Argentina, he "migrated" to the U.S. in 1998.
Co-owner Michael Kelley is a 35 year veteran of the restaurant business. Eleven years ago he and his wife created The Brome Howard Inn; a bed and breakfast, fine dining restaurant and catering facility in St. Mary's City. Prior to that, he served as a Director of Operations and General Manager for corporations and privately held restaurants all over the U.S. These restaurants included the renowned Tavern on the Green in New York City, The Sequoia, The Potomac and J. Paul's Saloon in Washington D.C. In total he has managed the opening of over 50 restaurants during his career.
