Comedy Invasion” for Project Graduation
Dear Editor: “The Comedy Invasion” for Project Graduation is back! Mark your calendar for Friday, February 23rd as the Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse, Inc. (CAASA) hosts their annual fundraiser to benefit Project Graduation, an alcohol-free and drug-free event held on graduation night for the graduating seniors from Calvert, Huntingtown, Northern and Patuxent High Schools. This year’s show features hilarious and well-known comedians, Erin Jackson, Mike Speirs and Martin Amini (a Maryland native). Erin was a semi-finalist on the latest reboot of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” and co-hosted three seasons of “Exhale,” a talk series on the ASPiRE television network. She has performed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and appeared on the NFL Network and VH-1. Mike is a New York City based comedian whose quick wit and likability allow him to connect with any audience. He has appeared at comedy clubs across the country and is starring in the Showtime TV series “Escape at Dannemora” in 2018. You don’t want to miss local comedian Martin Amini and his tales of growing up mixed in America. He has opened for Trevor Noah, Jerrod Carmichael and Jermaine Fowler. Join us at Huntingtown High School Auditorium, 4125 North Solomon’s Island Road, Huntingtown for a great night of fun and laughter. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with an 8 p.m. show time. Tickets are $35 in advance; $45 at the door; and $25 for CAASA Members and students ages 13-18. To purchase tickets visit the following locations: Floral Expressions (Owings), Gentle Family Dentistry (Dunkirk) and Lotus Kitchen (Solomons). Only cash or check are accepted. We’d appreciate the community’s support so we can continue to offer Project Graduation as a free event to our students. For more information about the show, visit the CAASA website at If you aren’t able to attend the show, please consider making a taxdeductible donation to CAASA. Mail donations to P.O. Box 2104, Prince Frederick, Maryland 20678. Thank you for your support. Kristen DePhillip President, CAASA Board of Directors
