LUSBY, Md. - A lost dog and his family were reunited Christmas Eve thanks to the combined efforts of Calvert County first responders during a cliff-side rescue.

On the morning of Monday, Dec. 24, members from several volunteer fire departments (VFDs) responded to Lusby's Chesapeake Ranch Estates for the report of a dog who had fallen over the edge of a cliff.

Using a rope system, members from Solomons, Huntingtown and Dunkirk VFDs lowered Chief 2 (Prince Frederick VFD) down the cliff's edge to the dog. According to the PFVFD, Chief 2B rescued the dog and continued approximately 200 more feet until reaching the beach safely.

According to a GoFundMe page made by the owner, "Mac" the dog had been missing since Dec. 9. He was finally spotted on the cliffs 15 days later by a man walking the beach who then called for help.
