Marching, trotting, riding—Parade held in Prince Frederick

Prince Frederick's 2017 Christmas Parade
Parade participants shared candy with the spectators at Fox Run Shopping Center.

Prince Frederick, MD  - For several generations Prince Frederick has been the site of a Christmas Parade. In recent years the event has been held at the Fox Run Shopping Center and cosponsored by the Optimist Clubs of Calvert and the Calvert County Fair Board. The 2017 parade was held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 3.

The weather was ideal—sunny with mild temperatures, although at one point it almost seemed like it was raining candy. Calvert’s youth—including members of the local 4H clubs, church groups, Scout packs and dens and the marching musicians and flag team from Calvert High School—were prominent participants. Classic cars, Armed Forces veterans groups, equestrian organizations, local businesses and several large vehicles from the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department, Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad and St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department traveled the road fronting the shopping center’s stores. Some of the larger vehicles featured were those from the Calvert County Department of Public Works.

Parade emcee Joyce Baki thanked the crowd, the parade participants, and the crews from Public Works and deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office for a successful Christmas parade.
