Welcome 2015! Let us rejoice as we embark on a journey of promise for all the blessings of the new year! The St. Aloysius Catholic Church Music Ministry invites individuals and families of all religious denominations to join them on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3:00PM in the worship space in Leonardtown for their 3rd annual New Year’s Choral Festival entitled: Ignite the Fire — Share the Light of Christ! (taken from the writings of Pope Francis).
This celebration of song includes many traditional Christmas carols, liturgical hymns, and songs of praise sung by voices from the Spirit Singers Youth Choir, Cross Generation Teen Choir, and Grateful Hearts Adult Choir. Instrumentalists from the Ministry’s Praise Band, vocal soloists from the choirs, and the St. Aloysius HandBell Choir showcase their talents and help all to rejoice in the arrival of a blessed New Year.
In the Catholic Church, the celebration of Christmastide runs annually from the Nativity of the Lord up to and including the Baptism of the Lord on January 12. Ignite the Fire! is the perfect way to transition from the joy of the Christmas season and to begin 2015 with a spark … sharing the light of Christ through music and rejoicing in all the blessings we anticipate in the New Year.
Pope Francis shares (taken from his Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel): “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus.Those who accept His offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness, and loneliness. With Christ, joy is constantly born anew. “
The Choral Festival is free, but guests are encouraged to bring canned food items or a small cash donation which will benefit Helping Hands Food Bank.
