Authorities investigating multiple car fires

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. - The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating two separate vehicle fires that occurred over the weekend in the Charles and St. Mary's County. 

On Saturday, Oct. 13, 6:44 p.m. units from the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 26400 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for a smoke investigation. Upon arrival crews discovered a Chevrolet Camaro on fire and quickly extinguished the fire in five minutes.  

Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been been abandoned and set on fire from the inside. The estimated cost of damage from the fire is $2,500.

The Following day, 10:17 p.m., units from the Marbury Volunteer Fire Department responded to the area of Revels Place and Reeder Place in Indian Head after a neighbor reported smoke. Upon arrival, crews discovered a 2018 Ford Focus on fire and quickly extinguished it within five minutes.The cost of damage from the fire is estimated to be $18,000. 

Investigation revealed the fire was also started from the inside of the vehicle.
