Blue Crabs Players Named to ALPB End of Season ALL-STAR TEAM

Waldorf, MD - October 11th, 2017 - The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) announced the 2017 End-of-Season All-Star team today that included three members of the First Half Freedom Division Champion Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Selected to the roster were First Basemen Michael Snyder, Starting Pitcher Gaby Hernandez and Closer Cody Eppley. Each of these players also represented the Blue Crabs in the ALPB All-Star Game played in July of this year.

Michael Snyder, who also served in the role of DH for the Blue Crabs, hit 25 HR, 72 RBI and 34 doubles in 2017.  These stats ranked him second, ninth and fourth in the league respectively.

RHP Gaby Hernandez completed his sixth season with Southern Maryland with an 11-4 record and a league leading ERA of 2.8.  Hernandez also tied the Blue Crab single season strike out record with 150 for the second year in a row.  Hernandez was unanimously selected to the End-of-Season All-Star Team.

Closer Cody Eppley, another RHP, finished his third season with Southern Maryland with a league-leading 32 saves in 58 appearances and a 2.42 ERA.  Eppley is now sixth all time for the ALPB in saves with 73.

“We are very pleased to have such a strong showing on the Atlantic League’s Post-Season All-Star Team” said Blue Crabs General Manager Courtney Knichel.  “Snyder, Hernandez, and Eppley were such great contributors to our club all season long and we are happy to see them receive this honor.”
