Leonardtown, MD – Authorities in St. Mary’s County are continuing to investigate a traffic incident involving a female pedestrian that occurred Friday evening, June 24 around 7 p.m. The injured female was flown to shock trauma. The incident occurred on Big Chestnut Road in Leonardtown.

Reports indicate police were initially looking for an older model van or sport utility vehicle with tinted windows. The vehicle was seen leaving the area prior to the arrival of the emergency responders.

Big Chestnut Road was closed to traffic for about two hours.
