The Patriotic Series returns to Nat's Park

WASHINGTON DC - The Washington Nationals will mark the return of the Patriotic Series presented by SAIC when the team hosts Military Appreciation Day on Thursday, April 12 vs. the Colorado Rockies. To honor the men and women of the U.S. military, the Nationals will offer complimentary tickets to military service members and their families for Thursday’s game. Active duty service members, dependents, veterans, retirees, and reservists may claim up to two complimentary tickets for each military ID or proof of service, and purchase additional tickets at a discounted rate. For tickets, please visit the windows next to the First Base Gate on Potomac Avenue SE, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on April 12.

The team will also again host Military Branch Days, a special series of games throughout the season that will pay tribute to each of the five branches of our nation’s military.


This series features on-field programming and pregame assets, themed giveaways, and patriotic uniforms.

The 2018 Patriotic Series includes:

  • Military Appreciation Day – Thursday, April 12 vs. Colorado Rockies
  • Women in the Military Day – Tuesday, May 22 vs. San Diego Padres
  • Independence Day – Wednesday, July 4 vs. Boston Red Sox
  • Heroes Day: September 11th Remembrance – Sunday, September 9 vs. Chicago Cubs 

Complimentary tickets for Military Appreciation Day can be picked up at the Grand Staircase Box Office near the First Base Gate beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maximum of two tickets per ID or proof of service. Complimentary and discounted tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.


The Nationals will once again honor each of the five service branches with their own dedicated game. Representatives from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Air Force will participate in the pregame ceremonies and special guests from each respective branch will be in attendance at each game.

Military Branch Days include:

  • U.S. Navy Day – Tuesday, May 1 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates  
  • U.S. Army Day – Sunday, June 10 vs. San Francisco Giants
  • U.S. Marine Corps Day – Tuesday, July 31 vs. New York Mets
  • U.S. Coast Guard Day – Saturday, August 4 vs. Cincinnati Reds
  • U.S. Air Force Day – Thursday, September 20 vs. New York Mets

These games are part of the Nationals military outreach programming, which includes the Nats on Base initiative, Salute to Service during every home game, and the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore “Washington Nationals Children’s Program” during each Sunday home game, which provides complimentary tickets to military families and allows military children to connect with peers to help make new friends.
