LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — As of Friday morning at 10 a.m., the Maryland Department of Health is confirming a total of 149 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) across the state of Maryland, however St. Mary’s County is still yet to see their first case.
The virus did finally find its way over to the Eastern Shore of the state, with both Wicomico and Worcester County both recording their first cases since yesterday.
At this time, there are no new cases to impact the Southern Maryland region, as a majority of the new cases have been confirmed in Montgomery and Prince George’s County. Since yesterday, PG County has confirmed seven new cases and Montgomery has recorded 18. Anne Arundel County has confirmed four new cases in the last 24 hours.
Charles and Calvert County are both holding at their Thursday totals of two and one positive case, respectively.
As of Mar. 19, the total number of confirmed cases in Maryland was 107. Today, that number is 149. This shows over a 39% increase in just 24 hours.
The Maryland Department of Health is confirming the following demographic breakdown of the cases, showing that the largest group to be impacted is adults under 65 years of age:
Under 18 : 3 cases
18-64 : 111 cases
65+ : 35 cases
