Calvert men indicted for burglary, assault

Prince Frederick, MD - Two Calvert County men have been indicted in connection with an incident that occurred at a residence in Chesapeake Beach Jan. 3. The accused have been identified as Taevon Rashad Hamlin, 22 of Chesapeake Beach; and Trevon Daqwaun Johnson, 23 of Owings. According to documents on file with Calvert County Circuit Court, Hamlin and Johnson were both indicted on six counts by a grand jury Feb. 21. The men are charged with one count each of first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property. The first-and third-degree burglary charges are felonies.

The indictment documents affirm that both Johnson and Hamlin broke into a woman’s residence with the intention of stealing, assaulted a male who was in the home and damaged a basement door when they gained entry to the residence.
Johnson is currently being represented by attorney Robert H. Harvey Jr. The prosecutions of both Hamlin and Johnson are being handled by Assistant State’s Attorney Kyle B. Tores. The defendants are tentatively scheduled for initial Circuit Court appearances Monday morning, March 5.
