Arnold Schwarzenegger visits Foundation 4 Heroes

Columbus, OH - The Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival and Kids Expo has over 20,000 athletes competing in various sporting and fitness events. That is more than the Olympics, so for Foundation 4 Heroes to be included in their brochure and invited back each year is an honor.

This year was no different. All of the volunteers of the non-profit organization made their way out to support this event on their own dime, driving 8 - 10 hours. These volunteers are truly special people. Mike and Laura Batson, of Mike Batson Photography, Shane Burud, Chris Bradshaw, Chrissy Dye, Ralph and Bonnie  Balengee, Arturo Sanchez and Juan Espinel.

Some of the highlights of the weekend included meeting Randy Couture, Apolo Ohno, Chris Kirkpatrick from NSync and of course getting pictures with The Terminator.

Batman got the opportunity to judge a talent show with distinguished members of the performing arts community in Columbus. He received props for his insight and supportive comments, while adding funny lines like when he addressed a contestant who tap danced and said that he wished to get a quick lesson so after he whoops Superman he can do that exact dance down the streets of Gotham.

Chris Kirkpatrick caught up with the Foundation President to also express his approval of fun comments.

Interestingly, Dr. Jay Lipoff was with a college friend in LA who did teleprompting many years ago. He accompanied him one night and witnessed NSync shoot a video up close, and saw Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, when they were still an item. Chris had a chuckle over the video shoot from so long ago and then shared some of the stories about the antics of his fans, during the height of their popularity.

The best moment was when Arnold was walking away after presenting the Ms. Teen Fitness Award and spotted the Foundation 4 Heroes Hummer. He bolted from security to take a look at the beast. At the moment he reached for the door handle, Iron Man may have prevented Arnold from hopping inside and cruising the Expo in style. Schwarzenegger was a true sport and spent time with the heroes and took some pictures.

Many businesses from Ohio were excited to form working relations with the organization so more good things can come from this weekend and more trips to the hospitals as a result. A few chain restaurants have become interested in having multiple store fundraisers so if your company has an interest to support a worthy cause and 100% volunteer organization inspiring children, contact the Foundation at info@f4heroes.com.

In addition, people made lots of small donations after taking pictures with characters, which helps support the Foundations’ mission.

March 19th we will be at the Easter Egg Hunt at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds from noon until 4 p.m.
