Prince Frederick, MD – It what has become a tradition under the tenure of Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans [R], the agencies newest deputies were sworn in during the weekly meeting of the county commissioners. On Tuesday, Feb. 6 eight new deputies took the oath and had their badges pinned on them. The oath was administered by Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court Jackie Hawkins.

The new deputies are: Stephan Bowlan, Andrew Crum, Branden Deleon-Suero, James Flynt, William Freeland, Michael Lewis, Michael Lorenzano and Shane Naughton. Deputies Lewis and Naughton received their badges from their fathers, who are law enforcement officers; Captain Todd Ireland pinned the badge on his cousin, Freeland, while Evans pinned the badges on the other five deputies.

“You do the most important job in the county,” Commissioner Mike Hart [R – District 1] told the new deputies.
