Dr. Lipoff: Foundation 4 Heroes and THE REX answer the call for Gabriel

"I have seen a lot over the last few months and I can tell you what you guys do does make a huge difference to the kid's life and how they handle illnesses." - Gabriel Sanchez's Dad referring to what Foundation 4 Heroes does for kids.

On Super Bowl Sunday, THE REX in Leonardtown, Maryland held a fundraiser for a little boy named Gabriel Sanchez who needs a double lung transplant.

Sadly he was unable to attend his event as he was being treated in Pennsylvania under his father’s supervision. In attendance were lots of family, friends and supporters to make this a successful night.

If you haven’t been to THE REX, Joe has created a delightful, culinary marvel nestled in the Leonardtown Square. The food is great and the atmosphere is equally fun; but last Sunday it was electric.

Inside were gifts from the community gathered up for auction and a Super Bowl squares game, which all of the winners donated their winnings back to the fundraiser.

It really is great seeing people come together in the face of adversity and this was just another example.

When Nikki Davis, aka Wonder Woman, of Stanley Martin Homes of Wildewood, heard about Gabriel Sanchez’s condition and the road ahead for the family, she quickly assembled the Foundation 4 Heroes team. They wasted no time meeting to figure out a way to help make the night great for this little hero.

Arriving to the scene were Captain America, Wonder Woman, The Punisher and Nick Fury. Mike Batson Photography captured the evening events as always.
They brought presents for the family like: WWE wrestlers, a Superman bed rest pillow for kids, Superman jammies with a cape, Superman capes and masks and more. Gabriel is a bit of a Superman fan.

The Sanchez family was excited and happy the Foundation 4 Heroes could swing by and support their cause, but that is what they do. They are a nonprofit organization and donations enable them to travel and see these amazing kids and their families.

Everyone was in good spirits and it is moments like this that enforce how important it is to support businesses and organizations that act to help others like, THE REX and Foundation 4 Heroes. Both are on facebook.
