Lexington Park, MD – A noon hour shooting incident is under investigation in St. Mary’s County, police have confirmed. A spokeswoman for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that no one was injured in the incident that occurred in the Patuxent Homes subdivision.

“The Criminal Investigations Division is on the scene,” said Jennifer Stone of the sheriff’s office, who confirmed no arrests have been made at this time.  

A resident who witnessed the incident told The BayNet.com that he overheard two men arguing prior to hearing the shots that were fired. “I was out cleaning my car,” the man, who asked not to be identified, told TheBayNet.com. “Two men were coming out of a house.

They were pretty loud. One of the men told the other to ‘get out of here.’ ” At that point a gun was fired by the male who then got into a small, silver car and drove off. “He [gunman] looked at me and I grabbed my granddaughter. I didn’t want him to start shooting at me.”

The witness described the gunman as “skinny and black.” He said the vehicle the gunman drove away in had Maryland red, white and blue tags. The vehicle may have been a Honda or a Hyundai.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office issued this statement regarding the incident –On Jan. 25 at approximately 12:22 p.m., St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 21000 block of Saratoga Drive for the report of shots fired. Deputies arrived on scene and found multiple shell casings. No was injured, and the suspect fled the scene before police arrival.
