MLK Days at Annmarie Gardens

Solomons, MD- Annmarie Sculpture Gardens and Arts Center invites you to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a community art project.

Annmarie Gardens is hosting a three-day, family friendly event in honor of MLK. This year’s MLK Days project is titled #WDUS4-What would you stand for? The idea was conceived by local artists Jeffery Weatherford and Carlisha Watkins. #WDUS4 will be a mural of footprints. It will allow participants to creatively and thoughtfully reflect on their values, what they stand for and what they deem most important. The mural will then remain on exhibit through the end of February in the Main Gallery at Annmarie.

Also during MLK Days, guests can enjoy A Tent of Many Colors. This is where participants can experience the therapeutic qualities of coloring. Guests can also join the Words to Live By hands-on art activity. You can turn old books pages into inspirational poetry worth framing.

MLK Days will be held Saturday, Jan. 14 through Monday, Jan. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s open to all ages. Admission is free; donations are gladly accepted.
