James A. Choporis, 46
It is with great sadness that the family of James Augustus ?Gus? Choporis announces his passing on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at the age of 46 years. Gus was born on March 10, 1960, the youngest son of JoAnne Greenwell Choporis and the late Demosthenes Paul Choporis. He attended Father Andrew White School and Leonard Hall School in Leonardtown, Maryland and graduated from Chopticon High School. Gus graduated from Seafarers Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship and served as a mariner with tours in the South Atlantic and the South Pacific. Most recently, he owned and operated International Beverage in Lexington Park, Maryland. Gus was a fun-loving man with a gentle spirit. He was a lover of nature, a storyteller with a keen sense of humor, and an avid camper and sailor. He was a lover of people, especially children. He was an uncle to seven and a surrogate uncle to scores of others. Gus was extremely fond of animals of all kinds; and he always had a least two cats. He is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his mother, two brothers; Paul and George Choporis, three sisters; Angie Iwanicki, Mary Russell, and Christina Choporis, and his daughter Jessica, and his fiancé Susan Potts. Gus will also be forever remembered by his Godchildren, his nieces and nephew, his aunts and uncles, his extended family, and dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Gus will be held on Friday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leonardtown, Maryland. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary?s Animal Welfare League, P.O. Box 364, Mechanicsville, Maryland 20659 or the SPCA. Funeral arrangements are being provided by the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, Maryland.
