On Aug. 8, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Officers were notified that a wanted felon was in the area from the State of Ohio.

Cpl. Myers, Dfc. Handy and Dep. Lacey responded to a residence in the Mechanicsville area in an attempt to locate the suspect, Keith Allan Romig.

While interviews were taking place at the front of the residence, Deputies were set up in various locations around the residence. Romig attempted to flee the residence and was immediately confronted by Dfc. Handy.

After a brief struggle, Romig was placed into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he will await extradition to the State of Ohio. His warrant was for an unlawful sexual contact and no other details surrounding the incident are available at this time.
