On Friday, October 13, a helicopter crashed in a field at St. Mary’s County fairgrounds at approximately 5:20 pm. Tim Cameron, Director of Public Safety, quickly confirmed to The Bay Net that the craft was a military one and two occupants escaped uninjured.

John Romer spoke to The Bay Net from the investigation scene this evening. The craft was a TH6 Cayuse, a US Naval test pilot helicopter, on its way to Patuxent River," said Romer. "The pilots had to an immediate landing, and unfortunately it had to be a hard one," Romer told The Bay Net. "Fortunately both pilot and co-pilot are O.K." Romer continued.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash and so no names are being released.

"The pilots were on a training mission of some sort," Romer told The Bay Net. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
