Abandoned House Next to Jumping Jacks Burns, Again
MECHANICSVILLE - 9/14/2009
|
At approximately 1:11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, multiple area fire units responded to the abandoned house at the corner of North Sandgates Road and Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for a working house fire. When units arrived on the scene, two sides of the house were involved on the first floor. Approximately 28 firefighters were able to quickly knock the bulk of the fire, knocking it down about 1:18 a.m. Due to the circumstances surrounding the fire, the Fire Marshall was called to investigate.
A one-gallon jug containing an unidentified liquid was found by firefighters at the scene. Fire units continued an extensive mop up operation, battling a number of small fires at the scene. The fire was declared under control at approximately 1:45 a.m. The fire remains under investigation.
